Derek Carr has fired back at former Saints teammate Michael Thomas' comment, allegedly blaming him over the concussion of teammate Chris Olave.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr has responded sharply to criticism from former teammate Michael Thomas, who suggested that Carr was responsible for wide receiver Chris Olave’s concussion during Sunday’s NFL game.

Olave was carted off the field following a hard hit in the Saints' 23-22 loss to the Carolina Panthers, with Panthers' Xavier Woods subsequently fined for a previous late hit during the game.

Thomas, a former Saints player, took to social media to express his frustration over Olave’s injury, implying that Carr’s throw left Olave vulnerable to the brutal hit.

Thomas contended that Carr’s pass put the wide receiver in a 'precarious position,' leading to the concussion and the disturbing scene that followed.

Carr, however, did not hold back in his response, downplaying Thomas’s accusations and questioning the motivation behind them.

“I have love for Mike,” Carr stated in an interview with ESPN before clarifying his stance.

“When he does that, I don’t really care for it, obviously. You know, I’ve had so many teammates over the years, and he’s like the one dude that didn’t get along with me. And I don’t know what I did to him, I don’t know why he feels that way. I’m sorry for whatever he’s dealing with to make him feel like he’s got to do that.”

Carr’s response sheds light on a tense history with Thomas, hinting at a complicated relationship between the two players from their time together on the Saints roster.

However, Carr’s comments underscore his indifference toward Thomas’s opinions, suggesting that whatever friction existed between them has left him largely unmoved.

The controversy adds another layer to the Saints’ challenging season, where injuries and interpersonal issues have been compounded by recent losses leading to the dismissal of head coach Dennis Allen.
