Hello, welcome to the National Stadium in Surulere the starting point of the eighth edition of the Access Bank Gold Label Marathon, I am Hassan, and I will be your host throughout the journey.
The 2023 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon has been dominated by Ethiopians and Kenyans since its debut in 2016.

- A United States Army member, Elkanah Kibet, has won the 2023 edition of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon.

He is a Kenyan-born American long-distance runner. An alumnus of Auburn University, he is also a financial management technician in the United States Army and competes in marathons as a member of the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program
- One hour, 42 minutes, and 30 seconds Kenyan, Elkanah Kibet leading the race
- Over an hour into the race and the big boys are being separated from
- The Gold-label race also served as the 2024 Olympics Qualifiers.
- The race has been flagged off by the sports Minister, Sunday Dare.
- The 42km race will start at 7. am as the runners are already set for the race.
- Ulfata Deresa of Ethiopia and his counterpart, Dagne Siranesh Yirga, won the seventh edition last year.
Ethiopia's Hayla Bazu Worku will be leading the team of over 1000 foreign world-class runners for the race.
