Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce's 2023 season's debut will be delayed, after withdrawing from the Botswana Golden Grand Prix.
World's fastest woman Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has withdrawn from the Botswana Golden Grand Prix, scheduled to hold on April 29th, due to a family emergency.
Fraser-Pryce was billed as one of the star athletes to headline the event, where she was supposed to make her season's debut in the 100m.
However, she has now withdrawn from the competition, which the organisers have confirmed via a press release on their Instagram handle.

In her media release issued on the 20th of April 2023, Fraser-Pryce cited, "I was very excited to kick off my season in Botswana, and while it comes as a disappointment, I will unfortunately no longer be able to compete in the Golden Grand Prix due to a family emergency."
Fans and athletics enthusiasts will now have to hold on till a later date for the Jamaican to make her debut appearance this year in preparation for defending her world title in Budapest come August.
