16-Year-Old Saibu Yetunde wins Ogun Women Run

Yetunde emerged fourth in the first edition in 2022.

16-Year-Old Saibu Yetunde has won the second edition of the Ogun Women Run, organized by Brussels Sports Management Limited.

The race, which began at Sapon and ended at the MKO Abiola stadium in Abeokuta, attracted more than 300 participants between the ages of 18 and above. The event is specifically intended to encourage healthy living among women.

Yetunde emerged fourth in the first edition in 2022.

Yetunde, who attributed her victory to consistent training, got to the finish line after 19 minutes and 39 seconds (19:39).

The Ijebu-based athlete will be going home with Five hundred Thousand Naira.

Asekun Olayemi finished as the first runner-up with a time of Nineteen minutes and fifty seconds (19:50), she would go home with Three Hundred Thousand Naira, while Eweniyi Florence, who got to the finish line after Twenty-two minutes and thirty-six seconds (22:36), will be going home with Two Hundred Thousand Naira for the second runner up position.

At the end of the event, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ogun State, Dr. Kudus Adegboyega Yusuf showered encomiums on the organizers, he assured that the Ogun State government under the leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun will continue to create an enabling environment for sports to thrive.

The Chief Executive Officer of Brussels Sports Management Limited, Mr. Seyi Johnson claimed that the assistance was a major factor in helping his team pull off a wonderful event.

He said that at the conclusion of the event, the Ogun State government, sponsors, the media, volunteers, the entire team responsible for organizing a befitting event, as well as other stakeholders, were thanked for their incredibly generous assistance.

He said "All thanks to everyone for the tremendous support, I owe this success to my mentor, Chief Bukola Olopade who has trained me to be on this path, special thanks to the Ogun State government, the first lady, our ever-reliable sponsors and all other stakeholders involved"

"This is another success recorded, obviously we've done something more colorful and glamorous than the first edition, and we intend to sustain the quality. In 2024, we will be here to make history again".
