The 2023 World Athletics Championships, slated for August 19-27, 2023, will bring together more than 2,000 athletes from 200 countries with the ultimate prize and history up for grabs.
Here are some of the top six athletes set for world titles in Budapest.
1. Joshua Cheptegei (10000m, 5000m)
Back-to-back 10,000m world champion Joshua Cheptegei cannot be underestimated at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest.
Despite struggling with regaining full fitness ahead of the championships, Cheptegei is set to bank on his rich experience on the track for a possible three-time back-to-back world 10,000m gold.
The absence of Jacob Kiplimo only places greater responsibility on Cheptegei to bring glory to Uganda.

Uganda's long-distance star Jacob Kiplimo has been ruled out of the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest.
Rogers Kibet, Joel Ayeko, will back the 10,000m and 5,000m world record holder in the 10,000m finals and 5,000m world bronze medallist Oscar Chelimo in the 5,000m.
2. Faith Kipyegon (1500m and 5000m)
Kenya's middle-distance and long-distance star Faith Kipyegon has made the most impressive season in 2023, shattering three world records.
She holds the 1500 meters, women's mile, and 5000 meters, world titles all set in 2023.
In Budapest, Kipyegon will compete in the 1500 and 5000 meters and shaving off a few seconds off her personal best and world records will do just the part!
3. Jakob Ingebrigtsen (1500m)
Ingebrigtsen has won all four of his Diamond League races this year. Ingebrigtsen broke the 26-year-old world-best performance over two miles in July 2023 at the Paris Diamond League.
The Olympic 1500m champion is the man to beat in the 1500m distance.
4. Tobi Asuman (100m Hurdles)
Despite facing suspension by the Athletics Integrity Unit for missing three drug tests in 12 months, Tobi Asuman has been included in Nigeria's final team for Budapest pending a hearing of her petition.
The women's 100-meter hurdles World record holder is the athlete to beat if her petition is successful.
5. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce (100m, 4X100m)
Jamaican star Fraser-Pryce faces the challenge of defending her title against in-form American star Sha'carri Richardson.
After a tough season, the five-time world champion will compete in the 100m race and the 4×100m relays, opting out of the 200m.
6. Ryan Crouser (men's shot put)
Crouser has established himself as arguably the greatest shot-putter in history.
He currently owns the world record for the shot put (23.56m) and boasts 10 of the 14 most oversized throws in shot put history.
