Nigeria's young sprinters dominated the men's 100m final at the 2024 NCAA Championships.
The men's 100m final at the 2024 NCAA Championships lived up to expectations as Favour Ashe inspired a Nigerian 2-3-4, the highest placements from a single country.
The University of Auburn standout speedster had his trademark perfect start and was on his way to victory before he was edged at the finish line by the fast-finishing Louie Hinchliffe.
Ashe was seen limping after the race, an indication that he probably felt a niggle about 30m to go leaving him to not close out the race on a high. However, he still held on to the second position in 9.99s as the University of Houston's newly discovered star won his first NCAA title in a Personal Best (PB) of 9.95s.
Kanyinsola Ajayi continued his brilliant breakout year with another impressive PB of 10.01s to take third in his first NCAA final, as Godson Brume (Louisiana State University) followed closely behind for fourth in 10.02s.
It is the first time a Nigerian trio will have a sweep in NCAA history, and the three are expected to race each other again at the National championships and Olympic trials in two weeks, where they'll be gunning to secure their spots to Paris.
