Thompson's scorching display saw him comfortably win the national trials, blasting past the likes of Oblique Seville and Ackeem Blake, who finished second and third respectively.
The youngster may have hinted at what to come following his jaw-dropping Personal Best (PB) of 9.82s to win his heat race at the Jamaican Olympic Trials.

That blistering pace saw him finish ahead of Ackeem Blake, who clocked a Season's Best (SB) of 9.95s, while Sandrey Davison was third in 10.00s.
Thompson's stunning 9.77 seconds is the fastest in the world in two years and puts him in rarified air among the all-time greats of sprinting.
Only Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake, Asafa Powell, Nesta Carter, Justin Gatlin, Christian Coleman, Trayvon Bromell and Erriyon Knighton have ever run quicker than the Jamaican flyer.
With the Olympics just a few weeks away, Thompson's sensational display will have his rivals quaking in their spikes as the youngster prepares to light up the track in Paris.
