Two-time World champion Abel Kirui will be hoping to make an impact at the Fukuoka Marathon next month as he seeks a grand return to the Olympic Games.
Former Olympic Games silver medallist Abel Kirui is seeking a grand return to the Fukuoka Marathon scheduled for Sunday, December 3.
The two-time World champion explained that he will be using the marathon as preparations for the Olympic Games in Paris, France where he will be hoping to be selected as part of Team Kenya.

Agnes Ngetich clocked 29:24, the second-fastest time in history, to win the 10km road race in Lille, France.
Kirui finished fifth during last year’s edition of the marathon due to injury setbacks but explained that he is doing much better now and is seeking a podium finish. He opened his 2023 season with a 12th-place finish at the Daegu Marathon.
“I will be competing at the Fukuoka Marathon next month…last time, I had some injuries which forced me to finish fifth but I’m now doing well.
"I have a good feeling going to Fukuoka and I believe I’ll finish among the top three…I want to go and fight for a podium finish.

"I’m still aspiring to compete at the Olympic Games next year and if I can run well in Fukuoka and then compete in Tokyo next year, then I can join the team,” Kirui said.
