Abraham Kibiwott has revealed his next plans after faltering at the Diamond League Meeting in Doha, Qatar, where he lost the title to Ethiopia's Samuel Firewu a few meters to the finish line.
Reigning Commonwealth Games champion Abraham Kibiwott is not shaken by defeat at the Diamond League Meeting in Doha, Qatar as he gears up for a busy season ahead including the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Kibiwott went into the event as a pre-race favourite and was looking very comfortable to take the win but he lost a few meters to the finish line after maintaining most of his focus on his opponents.
The World 3000m Steeplechase bronze medallist managed to settle for second place in the race, clocking 8:07.38 to cross the finish line.

Moraa and Kibiwot dominated the 800, 1500 and 3000m steeplechase races respectively.
The race was won by Ethiopia’s Samuel Firewu who surprised the masses with his fighting spirit that paid off well with a world leading time of 8:07.25. Another Ethiopian, Getnet Wale, completed the podium, clocking a season best time of 8:09.69.

It was a disappointing scene to watch Kibiwott being defeated a few meters to the finish line but he insisted on dusting himself up and going back into training and preparing for the busy season.
“The race was very good and I am satisfied. This is my first international race in 2024, so I am happy with the result.
“It is going to be a very tight season so I am getting back to the training ground and I am going to start again. The crowd was very good and to see my fellow Kenyans felt so special. It was fantastic,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Kenyan opened his track season at the Sirikwa Classic Cross Country, finishing a disappointing 47th place.
