Nigerian duo of Olayinka Olajide and Justina Eyakpobeyan stormed to the women's 100m final at the African Games in Ghana.
Running in the most important races of their lives, Olayinka Olajide and Justina Eyakpobeyan lived up to expectations by making the women's 100m final at the African Games in Ghana.
Olajide became the first Nigerian to book a spot in the final on the first day of athletics, after blazing to the finish line in 11.46s (-1.5) ahead of Congo's Natacha Akamabi in 11.48s.
Likewise, Eyakpobeyan was unstoppable in her semifinal race as she led from start to finish, closing in a respectable time of 11.61s.
Despite making the final, the Nigerian youngsters will have to be at their best in the final if they're to defeat Gambia's Gina Bass for the title, who ran the overall fastest time of 11.37s.
While Bass will be gunning to upgrade her silver medal from Rabat 2019 to gold this time and become the first woman from her country to achieve such a feat, Olajide and Eyakpobeyan will hope they cause one of the biggest upsets at the Games or at least win a medal for Nigeria in the event since Maputo 2011.
