A man who felt a woman couldn't defeat him in a race was taught a bitter lesson in front of his family.

A female track college athlete named Alahna Sabbakhan has gone viral after defeating a grown man in front of his family in a 400m race.

Sabbakhan, a 400m and 800m runner, raced her boyfriend's friend who challenged her that a woman couldn't beat him in a race.

Alahna Sabbakhan is a D1 student-athlete at the University of Virginia

He brought his family to watch the race, only to be humiliated by the experienced track runner.

Breakdown of the race

Sabbakhan stayed with him through the first 200m of the race as she had nothing to prove.

After she noticed he was losing energy as he didn't understand the dynamics of running a 400m race due to not being an athlete, his lack of fitness hit him hard, allowing Sabbakhan to finish hard.

The University of Virginia athlete clocked 57s but didn't bother as she took it as one of her workouts practice.

Sabbakhan's video on TikTok has gone viral, hitting over 1 million likes on that social platform alone.

The aftermath of Alahna Sabbakhan's video

There have been several reactions, and Sabbakhan later revealed she had some initial regrets about posting the video.

“I guess he thought that was the best way to prepare for a race,” she summarised. “I told him, as a track athlete, that’s the worst way to prepare.”

“He’s tried to not be too focused on the negative things people have said about him. I told him I didn’t intend for people to kind of jump on him,” she said. “We are on good terms.”

To her fellow female athletes, Sabbakhan has this message:

“Keep doing what you’re doing. Women’s sports has come a long way. We are part of something special. Be confident in your abilities and stay motivated in what you are doing.”
