Speed sensation Alana Reid and Olympic medallist Christine Mboma will battle it out in the women's 100m event at the Kip Keino Classic on April 20th.
Jamaica's sprint prodigy Alana Reid is scheduled to compete in her first international race of the season against a formidable field that includes renowned sprinter Christine Mboma at the Kip Keino Classic in Kenya.
Reid opened her season a few weeks ago at the Miramar Invitational with a modest 11.69s, then backed it up with 11.09s at the Tom Jones Invitational. She will be gunning for her first win of the year and perhaps a sub-11s time to hit the Paris Olympics qualifying standard.
However, she'll face a tough challenge in Mboma, who's making a comeback since the 2022 Commonwealth Games, after being cleared by the World Athletics to compete again in the 100m and 200m events.
The Namibian Tokyo Olympic 200m silver medallist's aim will be on a famous statement win with a fast time to announce her readiness for the rest of the season and ahead of the Olympics.
Despite being tipped as the favouites, both youngsters will be wary of the threat posed by African Games champion Gina Bass, Egypt's Basant Hemida, Belgium's Rosius Rani, Germany's Kayden Lilly, USA's Ray Shannon, and homegirl Esther Mbagari.
