Kirui, who last represented the country at the 2019 World Cross-country Championships revealed that his main goal this year is to compete at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary from August 19 to 27.

“My main goal going forward is to make Team Kenya in the World Championships. It feels good to be back,” he said.

He stamped authority by crossing the finish line first ahead of the duo of Abraham Kibiwott and Leonard Bett who clocked 8:09.71 and 8:10.02 respectively.
