Amusan to return to Nigeria in November for the 2nd Tobi/Abiola Ijebu Sprint & Relays Meet

Young athletes from all around Ogun State will gather at the renowned Otunba Dipo Dina stadium in Ijebu-Ode for the second edition of the Tobi/Abiola Ijebu Sprint and Relays Meet on November 3rd and 4th.

Tobi Amusan is expected to return to Nigeria in November after capping off a difficult season with a Diamond League championship in the 100m hurdles in Eugene, USA for the Tobi/Abiola Ijebu Sprint and Relays Meet.

Young athletes from all around Ogun State will gather at the renowned Otunba Dipo Dina stadium in Ijebu-Ode for the second edition of the Tobi/Abiola Ijebu Sprint and Relays Meet on November 3rd and 4th.

Amusan and Abiola Onakoya were discovered as young athletes as a result of youth development programs in Ogun State, and they both received scholarships to study at the University of El-Paso in Texas, USA.

Both had previously represented Team Nigeria at the youth, junior, and senior levels before graduating from school.

The Governor of Ogun State Dapo Abiodun, who designated Amusan Ogun State Youth Ambassador after she broke the 100m hurdles record at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene, has supported this edition.

Amusan who also won the gold medal in the event is the first and only Nigerian to win a gold medal in the World Athletics Championships since the inaugural edition in 1983.

It is in recognition of her contributions to the growth of athletics from the grassroots and also her achievements that earned Amusan the ambassadorial role.
