Chebet clocked 14:36.52, her season-best time, to cut the tape ahead of her opponents.

Commonwealth Games 5000m champion Beatrice Chebet has yet again stunned a strong field to win the women’s 5000m race at the Diamond League Meeting in Stockholm, Sweden.

Chebet clocked 14:36.52, her season-best time, to cut the tape edging out the Ethiopian duo of Lemlem Hailu and Medina Eisa to second (14:38.06) and third (14:40.02) places respectively.

The 23-year-old has maintained a winning streak since she opened her season with a lucky win at the World Cross-country Championships in Bathurst, Australia. Chebet then jetted into the country and impressed during the Kip Keino Classic in May.

She proved unbeatable when she won the 1500m as a debutant at the National Police Championships and later went to the Diamond League Meeting in Oslo where she set a new meet record over the 3000m.

The world 5000m silver medallist then competed at the National Championships where she also reigned supreme in the 1500m.

She has been invited for the World Championships national trials scheduled for Friday, July 7 and 8 where she is expected to lock horns with double world record holder Faith Kipyegon.

Meanwhile, world and Olympic champion Emmanuel Korir failed to deliver as he lost his third consecutive race since he started the Diamond League Meeting tour. Korir finished eighth in 1:48.96 as Algeria's Djamel Sedjati took top honours in 1:44.59.

The 28-year-old was lagging from behind throughout the race thus finishing in such a poor position. He opened his campaign with an eighth-place finish at the Diamond League Meeting in Doha, Qatar before finishing 10th in the Diamond League Meeting in Paris, France.

Just like Chebet, Korir has also been invited for the National trials where he will be up against compatriots Wycliffe Kinyamal and Emmanuel Wanyonyi.
