Beatrice Chebet will be smiling to the bank after an additional Ksh1.4 million was added to her earnings for topping the 2023-24 World Athletics Cross Country Tour standings.
Two-time World Cross Country Champion Beatrice Chebet and Burundi’s Rodrigue Kwizera led the standings at the end of the 2023-2024 World Athletics Cross Country Tour.
World Athletics ranked Chebet and Kwizera first owing to their best three cross-country performance scores achieved between September 2023 and Sunday, March 31. Of the three, at least two had to come from World Cross Country Tour meetings.
The World 5000m bronze medallist achieved victories at the gold-level meetings in Atapuerca in October, and then in Elgoibar in February.

Beatrice Chebet has opened up on the secret recipe that propelled Kenya's senior women's team to a top-five sweep at the World Cross Country Championships.
The Kenyan then followed that by defending her title at the World Cross Country Championships in Belgrade, Serbia, which propelled her into the lead in the overall standings with a score of 3,880.
With her topping the standings, she will be awarded about Ksh1.4 million since World Athletics announced that the top six finishers in the series are also awarded.

World 10km record holder Agnes Jebet has revealed what cost her a podium place at last weekend's World Cross Country Championships.
In the men’s standings, Kwizera, who shared the lead in the Cross-Country Tour standings last season, this time ended the tour as the sole winner of the men’s contest. He was victorious at the Gold level meetings in Soria and Alcobendas in November, and runner-up in Elgoibar earlier this year, giving him an overall score of 3,700.
Another Burundian, Celestin Ndikumana was second in the overall standings while Kenya’s Ronald Kwemoi was third.
