Two-time World 5000m champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen has aimed a dig at his competitors including Josh Kerr and Jake Wightman who have shown him dust in the previous championships.
Speaking to the UK Times, Ingebrigtsen noted that he believes his competitors are irrelevant and very inconsistent when it comes to the sport.

World Athletics have joined track and field fans by commenting on the comparison of Kylian Mbappe to Usain Bolt when it comes to the 100m.
Kerr beat Ingebrigtsen in the 1500m to second place at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary while Wightman beat the Norwegian in the 1500m at the global showpiece in Oregon, the USA.

In the interview, he said: “I’m going to say my competitors are irrelevant in the way I see them all the same.
“One of the main issues is they are very inconsistent and that means my rivals are always changing. From 2017 I have had ten to 12 different rivals. It’s easier for them to have a rival in me but not as easy for me to have a rival in them.”
Speaking on the matters of doping worldwide, Ingebrigtsen believes that matters have become worse and people are slowly becoming smarter when it comes to handling such.
“I think doping is worse now than 10 years ago. It is difficult to prove that, but it’s what I feel. The problem now is that we see fewer positive tests, and that really concerns me; it is a sign that people are getting smarter and finding better ways to evade detection, or perhaps the tests are not detecting enough,” he said.
On his part, he is back to training and healing from his injury and still plans to compete at the European Championships in June.
