Reigning World 800m champion Mary Moraa was given a rare opportunity to address the Kisii County Assembly on Tuesday.

From her track exploits to now addressing County Assemblies, reigning World 800m champion Mary Moraa is surely making boss moves.

The 23-year-old shared her elation in a post on her Facebook page thanking Kisii County Governor Simba Arati for granting her the opportunity to speak during the County Assembly meeting.

She said: “Thank you, your Excellency Kisii County Governor Simba Arati for the warm reception and the opportunity of allowing me to address the County Assembly today. God Bless Kisii, God bless Kenya.”

Moraa has had a glamorous track season and it has surely extended to her off-season since she is clearly enjoying what she is doing.

Over the weekend, the Commonwealth Games 800m champion was privileged to join pupils and teachers of Rophine Field Junior School at their Sports Day at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Nairobi.

Kisii Express also attended the Harambee Starlets match against the Lionesses of Cameroon and was able to witness it as Team Kenya thrashed the Cameroonians.

Her track season has been full of achievements and she only lost one 800m race at the Prefontaine Classic, the final Diamond League Meeting where she finished fourth. Olympic champion Athing Mu carried the day at the event.

She made history at the World Championships, becoming the third Kenyan woman to win the 800m gold medal on the global stage. Moraa clocked a Personal Best time of 1:56.03 to win the race. The only other Kenyan women to have won the 800m are Janeth Jepkosgei and Eunice Sum.

Moraa also competed in a couple of 400m races and only lost one, the Diamond League Meeting in Monaco where she finished sixth. She will be eyeing the Olympic title next season.
