Track legends Michael Johnson and Asafa Powell are in agreement on what it takes to break Usain Bolt's World Records.

American track legend Micheal Johnson and Jamaican speed icon Asafa Powell have an agreement on the hottest topic in the world of athletics now - breaking Usain Bolt's sprints World Record's.

Bolt clocked the 100m World Record of 9.58s at the Berlin 2009 World Athletics Championships, lowering his previous record of 9.69s which he smashed to erase Powell's previous all-time best of 9.72s.

In the 200m, he obliterated Johnson's WR of 19.32s with a blistering 19.19s at the same championship, and these jaw-dropping WRs stand to date.

While many attempts were made by several sprinters to break these records through the years all to no avail, the discussion intensified this season with Noah Lyles's bold claims of not just going for a quadruple of Olympic gold medals in Paris but taking down the 200m WR with a new 19.10s.

Lyle's ambitious goal has stirred several conversations online from Jamaican and American fans, as well as past and present athletes. And now legends in Powell and Johnson have weighed in their opinion, which surprisingly is in unison.

In an exclusive interview with Citius Mag when asked about if the sprints WRs will go down, Powell said:

Asafa Powell is one of the world's fastest men in history

“The only record I see possibly someone going close to is maybe the 200m…I personally think Usain could have run faster in the 200m. In the 100m, that’s it. 9.58 is going to be there for a very, very, very long time.”

To this, Johnson agreed quoting the statement on his X page.

"100% agree. 200 could be broken in the next few years. 100 gonna be a really long time!"

The closest to breaking Bolt's 200m WR is Yohan Blake at 19.26s - the second fastest time in history, while Lyles is the third fastest at 19.31s.
