The time is a joint world lead, a Meeting Record (MR), and the fastest by a British runner in recent years.

Homeboy Joshua Hartmann also sped to a PB of 6.53s to take second, ahead of his countryman Julian Wagner with 6.56s.

Meanwhile, Daryll Neita was also in superb form in the women's 60m, dropping a blistering PB of 7.05s to take the needed victory. Her time is just one-hundredth of a second off Dina Asher-Smith's UK record of 7.04s.

Duplantis cleared 6.06m - a new MR, far ahead of EJ Obiena with a clearance of 5.82m and Kurtis Marschall with the same height, but the former won on countback.

Though the WR holder fell short of his opening height of 6.10m last week, it doesn't change the fact that the Swedish icon may attempt going for a new WR of over 6.20m as the season progresses.
