The duo of Godson Brume and Imaobong Uko put up impressive performances at the Tom Jones Invitational, plus more results from Nigerian athletes.
Godson Brume and Imaobong Uko had impressive outings on Day 1 of the Tom Jones Invitational in Florida, racing to impressive 200m Personal Best (PB) times in their various heats.
Brume ran under the 21s mark for the first time in his career, shaving off almost three-tenths from his previous PB of 21.23s with a new 20.92s, finishing clear ahead of Nolan Macklin with 21.01s.
The Louisiana State University junior is now the second Nigerian male sprinter to go sub-21s outdoors this year after Jerry Jakpa ran a Season's Best of 20.78s last weekend.
Meanwhile, his teammate Ella Onojuvwevwo also clocked a PB of 23.35s to finish second in her 200m heat, behind Nya Bassey with an identical time.

Uko records PB as Chinecherem and Nathaniel produce good marks
Quarter miler Uko is building up nicely to the season, as she recorded a PB of 23.10s (0.7) to finish third in her heat of the women's 200m (college). It's her second PB this season in two 200m races so far, which is good progress this season.
Her teammate Nnamdi Chinecherem threw a decent distance of 70.75m for a second-place finish in the Javelin throw. The Nigerian record holder in the event will be gunning to improve on these mark as the season progresses.
Also, Ezekiel Nathaniel ran 49.44s for the fourth fastest overall time in the men's 400m Hurdles.
The Tom Jones Invitational will wrap up on Saturday, having Tobi Amusan and Rosemary Chukwuma.
