Muneria clocked a course record time and Personal Best time of 2:09:06 to cross the finish line ahead of his compatriots.

Months after reigning supreme in the 21km at the Nairobi City Marathon, Charles Muneria has extended his hot streak to Germany, taking top honours in the Munster Marathon.

Muneria clocked a course record time and Personal Best time of 2:09:06 to cross the finish line ahead of compatriots Martin Cheruiyot and Cornelius Kibiwott.

Cheruiyot and Kibiwott finished second and third in respective times of 2:11:20 and 2:11:51. Muneria took charge of the race from the gun and controlled the pace until the last few meters to the finish line where he outsmarted his compatriots to carry the day.

This marks his second win since the season started. He has also competed in other two half marathons, the Weir Venloop and Adizero Road to Records where he finished sixth in both.

He also competed in the 10,000m race at the Kenya Prisons Track and Field Championships where he finished second.

Meanwhile, another Kenyan, Rebecah Jeruto took top honours in the women’s race, clocking a Personal Best time of 2:29:12 to cross the finish line.

The duo of Jane Moraa and Judith Cherono finished second and third in the respective times of 2:30:05 and 2:35:23.

This was Jeruto’s second marathon this year and her first win since the season started. She opened her season with a third-place finish at the Oberbank Linz Donau Marathon.
