The strategic collaboration will serve as a catalyst to draw marathon runners and fans to the marathon for the next three years
This year’s edition will see a total of four races taking place, with a 21 km half marathon being the highlight of the day. The 10km race will involve the elite athletes of both gender, a corporate race and a veteran’s category of over 50 years.
NBK Managing Director George Odhiambo, speaking during the cheque handover, emphasised the importance of the sponsorship saying: "I believe that through sports, we can bring people together and inspire them to lead active lives. We are committed to seeing every good course come to fruition. We are confident that it will go a long way in helping the conservation of the dam and further benefit the people of Eldama Ravine and Baringo at large.”
The proceeds from the marathon will support the enhancement of the Chemususu dam catchment, create awareness of the importance of conservation in the area, and tap and develop the region's athletes' talent.
