According to reports going round in the United States, it is believed that Christian Coleman is set to leave his long-term coach Tim Hall and join Coach Dennis Mitchell and Sha'Carri Richardson at Star Athletics Track Club.

In perhaps the biggest news set to hit the track and field world post-Paris Olympic Games, there are reports that Christian Coleman is set to join Sha'Carri Richardson at the Star Athletics Track Club in Florida, coached by Dennis Mitchell.

Coleman, who's presently being coached by Tim Hall, the associate head coach for track and field at the University of Tennessee, has played a pivotal role in shaping the speedster's successful career to reach the pinnacle as one of the fastest men in history.

He is the current 60m World Record holder with a time of 6.34s and has won numerous accolades including multiple NCAA titles, becoming the 2019 world 100m champion and a two-time world 60m champion (2018 and 2024), as well as diverse world relay medals.

The 28-year-old's Personal Best (PB) in the 100m is 9.76s, making him the sixth fastest all-time in history. In addition, he won the Diamond League title (2018 and 2023) and ended the 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2023 seasons as the world No1 ranked sprinter.

Christian Coleman was a silver medallist at the 2017 World Championships, defeating Usain Bolt

However, things turned sour this season after Coleman failed to make the US 100m and 200m Olympic team to Paris with a fourth-place finish in the final, despite running the fastest times through the qualifying rounds.

In addition, he hasn't improved his times since 2019 nor has he won an international 100m medal, making track enthusiasts now suggest he's due to try another coach after so many years with Hall.

If the rumours are true according to Coach Johnson on X after featuring on a Podcast livestream, Coleman will be joining a highly talented speed group at Star Athletics that includes Richardson, US double silver medallist Kenny Bednarek, Olympic qualifiers Twanisha Terry and Melissa Jefferson, Canadian speedster Aaron Brown, etc.

Coach Dennis Mitchell is known to improve the speed of his athletes in a short period, so considering how talented Coleman is based on his previous performances, it is highly thought that this move can be the biggest game-changer in bringing him back to his best.

It'll also change the dynamics of Noah Lyles's reign in the US men's 100m event, especially with their Jamaican rivals now stepping up in their new speed kings - Kishane Thompson and Oblique Seville.
