Noah Lyles and Marcell Jacobs with race for the first time against each other in the 60m at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix.
Paris Olympic champion Noah Lyles and Tokyo 2020 champion Marcell Jacobs will face off for the first time in a 60m race at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix on February 2nd.
Both are recognised as good runners in the event, having won respective medals at the World Indoor Championships. They'll be gunning to kick off their 2025 season on a winning note, which makes the race exciting to anticipate.
Lyles began his indoor season last year at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, where he defeated Oblique Seville in a new Personal Best (PB) of 6.44s. He would then win the US Indoor Championships, before succumbing to Christian Coleman's supremacy at the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow, where he equaled his PB to settle for the silver medal.
His indoor performances aligned the rest of the year for the American speedster, with the icing on the cake being a deserved Olympic 100m gold medal in Paris.
Meanwhile, Jacobs had a slow start to the 2024 season but peaked at the right time for the Olympics, reaching the 100m final and settling for a fifth-place finish.

'People running fast in bad positions get injured' - Noah Lyles reveals best sprinting advise he has ever received
As the world's fastest man, Noah Lyles had lots to say when asked the best sprinting advise that has propelled his career, delving on nutrition, training, mental alertness and injuries.
Despite this, the Italian record holder is a threat in the 60m as he's a 2022 world champion in the event with a PB of 6.41s, backing up his Tokyo Olympics victory that it was no fluke.
With his injury woes through the years behind him, Jacobs will be aiming to have his first victory over Lyles as the American has been the better one on three occasions in the 100m event.
As of writing this, the organizers of the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix are yet to announce the other sprinters that will complete the 60m field, but it's expected Lyles and Jacobs will be the main headliners.
