It costs $100000 to be an Olympic runner: Gabby Thomas analyses financial investment professional athletes commit at high levels
Five-time Olympic medallist Gabby Thomas revealed the financial investment most athletes commit to become Olympians.
"He has a slight medical training issue and so therefore we decided that for such an issue, he would require a couple of days rest. That means that he will not be in proper shape to compete. So since he won't be in his best shape, it makes no sense for him to compete," said coach Francis in an interview with Radio Jamaica.
The renowned coach who also trains Shericka Jackson and Tia Clayton, further revealed the extent of Thompson's injury.

"It's a slight one. An incident happened in training on his shin and he should be alright in a couple of days. So there's nothing to be alarmed about."
Thompson kicked off his 2025 season with a massive statement by clocking the fifth-fastest 60m time in Jamaican history after blazing to a brilliant personal best of 6.48s (-2.1m/s) at the Central Hurdles, Relays, and Field Events Meet in Kingston.
A week later, on January 25th, he competed in his first indoor race on European soil at the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meeting in Astana, where he powered to an impressive win in 6.56 seconds. But since then, the 23-year-old hasn't competed in any indoor race.

The talented speedster was highly rated to win Jamaica's first 60m gold medal in World Indoor Championships history. Unfortunately, with Thompson's withdrawal, the sprint country will have to wait for another hero in the future.
