Athletics enthusiasts will be treated to a looming showdown as Athletics Kenya have revealed when Mark Otieno and Ferdinand Omanyala will lock horns.
The much-anticipated showdown between Commonwealth Games champion Ferdinand Omanyala and former national champion Mark Otieno is finally here and fans should brace themselves for a thrilling showdown.
Both Omanyala and Otieno have confirmed participation in the third Athletics Kenya track and field weekend meet set to take place at the Nyayo National Stadium on January 26 and 27 (Friday and Saturday).
Omanyala has signed up for the 200m only while Otieno has confirmed participation in the 100m and 200m races as they both seek to stamp authority and impress their fans.

Sprinting star Mark Otieno is surely enjoying the Olympic season, which has seen him and his wife, Stephanie Odhiambo welcome a bouncing baby boy.
Omanyala’s younger brother, Isaac Omurwa, will go head to head with Otieno in the 100m races while Omanyala will face off against Otieno in the 200m.

Meanwhile, Omanyala already opened his 2024 season at the second Athletics Kenya meet where he competed in the 400m race. The African champion has from time to time shared a sneak peek into his training sessions and his fans will be expecting outstanding performances from him.
He has already set targets ahead of the Olympic Games after a mixed season last year where his major setback was failing to bag a medal at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary. However, he became the first Kenyan to reach the final of the 100m in the global bonanza.
