Daniel Simiu has gone down memory lane to reflect on the faithfulness of God since he started his track career.

World 10,000m silver medallist Daniel Simiu has reflected on how God has been faithful since he started competing as a professional athlete.

Simiu started his professional career in 2019 and made his first appearance at a major event during the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games but he did not proceed to the final of the 5000m.

The 28-year-old then made his debut at the World Championships during last year’s edition of the event in Eugene, USA but unfortunately finished 10th in the final of the men’s race. He then went ahead to win the Commonwealth Games silver medal over the 10,000m.

The 28-year-old then won his first medal at the World Championships during the 2023 edition of the event at the Hungarian Capital, clocking 27:52.60 to finish second in the 10,000m. As he looks back, he has reflected on the goodness of God and how He has walked with him.

“It has been God all through and I’m happy since I started competing for the first time He has been faithful.

"It has been good actually and I am very happy and I am definitely looking forward to better results,” Simiu said.

Simiu ended his track season at the Diamond League Meeting in Brussels with a win over the 10,000m race and he immediately switched to the road races and cross-country.

He will be vying for a ticket to the World Cross-country Championships to be held in Belgrade, Serbia after he was in action during this year’s edition of the event and managed to finish sixth in the senior men’s race.

“I’m just building up for next season…I want to be in Team Kenya for the World Cross-country,” Simiu said.
