The 2023 ECOWAS Abuja International Marathon, set to take place on December 16th with the event promises an exciting twist with the introduction of a 5-kilometer fun run alongside the traditional half marathon, catering to runners of all ages and abilities.

The half marathon will commence at the ECOWAS secretariat, while the 5-kilometer fun run will start at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway. Both races will end at Eagles Square, where a lively atmosphere awaits, complete with entertainment and other fun activities.
The Race Director, Gabriel Okon of Y & T Sports Management, invites all Nigerians to join this regional celebration of fitness and camaraderie.
Okon, a former AFN Performance Director, said several mouth-watering prizes would be up for grabs at this year’s race.

World Record holder Tobi Amusan was snubbed for this year's World Athletics Women's Athlete of the Year Award.
He said, “This year’s theme is promoting integration among ECOWAS citizens, so, we want our people, both old and young in Abuja and across the country, to come out en mass to be part of this year’s race,”
“Of course, many prizes will be given out to the participants; we are expecting runners from across the sub-region, from Ghana to Senegal, Liberia to Gambia, and many more.”
