Despite having an injury setback, Elaine Thompson is sure of what she is capable of ahead of her title defense campaign at the Olympic Games.

Triple Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah is taking a day at a time as she eyes a resounding comeback at next year’s Olympic Games in Paris, France.

Elaine, the defending champion in the 100m and 200m, suffered a major injury setback and psychological challenges but was slowly making a comeback at the end of the 2023 track and field season.

She failed to make the Jamaican national team cut in an individual event for the World Championships but posted promising times after the global event.

After the World Championships, she competed at the Diamond League Meeting in Zurich where she finished third in the 100m.

Thompson then proceeded to the Gala dei Castelli where she clocked her first sub-11 performance to win the race. She then competed at the Diamond League Meeting in Brussels and won and set her season-best time of 10.84.

Her final race of the season was at the Prefontaine Classic, the final Diamond League Meeting where she finished an impressive third.

“I’m just going to be patient with myself because every race I run, I get better. I don’t want to rush or overthink and not put too much pressure on myself.

"I know what I’m capable of and I know what I can do so once I’m healthy and fit, I know what will happen so I just have to stay focused and patient and healthy of course,” Thompson said.

After her exploits at the Diamond League Meeting in Brussels, she was over the moon after clocking her Season Best.

She added that she just wanted to run decent times and it came out as good preparations for next season and she will keep working towards her title defense campaign.
