The legendary 38-year-old marathoner has revealed he “cannot wait” for the Berlin race on Sunday.
Legendary Kenyan marathoner Eliud Kipchoge is looking forward to taking part in his fifth career Berlin marathon ahead of the annual city marathon set to take place this Sunday.
Kipchoge, who broke his own world record at the same event last season, has revealed on his X page that it “feels good” to be back in the German capital, which is like “coming back home”.

Berlin remains to be Kipchoge’s most successful marathon since he has managed to bag four wins and set two world records.
“It’s good to be back in Berlin, it always feels like coming home. Only a few more days until the Berlin Marathon. I can’t wait,” Kipchoge said.
The 38-year-old athlete has enjoyed great success in the event, winning four gold medals in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022.
He will be itching to make it his fifth career win in six attempts by conquering the streets of the German capital once more this year. He is also using it as a preparation tool to conquer the streets of Paris at next year’s Olympics set to take place in France.

ATHLETICS Eliud Kipchoge lands in Germany in style ahead of the Berlin Marathon
The Berlin course remains one of his favourite since he has set two world records there.
“Berlin is like home for me,” he told the organizing team’s magazine prior to this year’s race. “In view of the Olympic Games next year in Paris, I thought about which race could be the best preparation for the Games for me and Berlin is the best option.”
In 2022, he beat his own world record which he set in 2018 at 2:01.09 beating his own previous record he set in 2018 by 30 seconds.
A total of 45,000 elite and amateur marathoners from across the world will be taking part in this year’s edition of the marathon, often referred to as one of the fastest in the world.
The Berlin marathon is one of the most prestigious marathons in the world as it presents the top echelon in the sport of marathon running.
