ATHLETICS: Countdown of 40 greatest World Championships moments to be revealed from Friday
World marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge Kipchoge and four-time World 3000m SC champion Ezekiel Kemboi are among Kenyans who were shortlisted.
Kipchoge revealed that Kipyegon is a true definition of ‘hard work pays’ and she has motivated him to keep going.
“It’s a huge inspiration and motivation for me and the team. I realised that actually working hard and knowing where you are and where you are going actually yields a lot of fruits.
"When she broke the 1500m record we were happy but when she broke the 5000m record we were even more happier.
"We saw that she has a lot of mileage in her legs and the only thing is to train hard and that’s what led to her double victory,” Kipchoge told Citius Mag.
He added that his dream of winning all six Marathon Majors is still on despite the Boston Marathon setback that saw him fizzle out to finish sixth in the highly contested race.
“I think that wasn’t my day…I had a problem with my leg. The first session back after the marathon was painful and I kept thinking about what led to my loss. However, with time I felt more energetic and I chose to forge ahead.
