Korir opened his season with a disappointing eighth-place finish at the Diamond League Meeting in Rabat.

World and Olympic 800m champion Emmanuel Korir will be seeking redemption when he lines up against a strong field in the Paris Diamond League Meeting on Friday, June 9.

Korir opened his season with a disappointing eighth-place finish at the Rabat Diamond League Meeting last Friday.

Going into the 800m as a pre-race favourite, he failed to live up to the billing and he will be keen to change the narrative when he sets foot on the track at the Charléty Stadium.

The road to redemption will, however, not be an easy one since the race has assembled a star-studded field of young and experienced runners. The 27-year-old will have to dig deep in search of a win.

Former world under-20 800m champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi who has been in brilliant form will be seeking to maintain his momentum. The 18-year-old has won all the three races he has entered and in Paris, he might just pull off another surprise.

He opened the season with a win at the World Cross-country Championships before reigning supreme at the Kip Keino Classic and the Diamond League Meeting in Rabat.

Canada’s Marco Arop will also be returning after a fifth-place finish in Rabat and he will be keen to improve on his performance.

The Algerian duo Slimane Moula and Djamel Sedjati will also be coming back after a fruitful outing at the Diamond League Meeting in Doha, Qatar. Moula finished first while Sedjati sealed the podium at the event.
