Wanyonyi has not lost any race since the season started.
Former World Under-20 champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi has had an impeccable campaign since the start of the 2023 season as he is yet to taste defeat in any race.
He opened his season with a win in the mixed relay at the World Cross-country Championships in Bathurst, Australia back in February before heading to the Kip Keino Classic in May where he floored bigwigs to take the title.

World Athletics started off their countdown on July 30 and they have been releasing 10 names every week.
After the Continental Gold Tour, Wanyonyi started off his Diamond League campaign in Rabat, Morocco with a dominant win and then proceeded to Paris, France where he also reigned supreme.
His latest win was during the World Championships National Trials where he also made a statement to prove that this might be his year.
“There is no secret to winning in athletics…there is no shortcut. You need to train and focus…that is what matters. You need to be hardworking and ensure that you follow what the coach says…patience is also essential,” Wanyonyi said.
Due to his exploits at the National Trials, he qualified for the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary where he will be competing on the global stage with the senior athletes for the second time.

During last year’s edition of the event, Wanyonyi finished fourth, just missing out on the podium by a whisker.
“Last year I missed out because of inexperience…I’m learning the ropes slowly and maybe this year I might improve on my performance. I am going to prepare well for the event,” he said.
