Emmanuel Wanyonyi has cleared the air on why he missed the World Cross Country Championships in Belgrade, Serbia.
Fans were anticipating world 800m silver medallist Emmanuel Wanyonyi at the World Cross Country Championships in Belgrade, Serbia last weekend but the youngster was nowhere to be seen.
During the 2023 edition of the event held in Bathurst, Australia, the former World Under-20 800m champion was in action in the mixed relay team that won gold, and many were hoping to see him once again.
However, at this year’s edition, the team comprised Kyumbe Munguti, Purity Chepkirui, Reynold Cheruiyot, and Virginia Nyambura who won gold to successfully defend the title. Eyebrows have been raised on why the 19-year-old missed the global showpiece and in an exclusive interview with Pulse Sports, he cited the reasons.
