Emmanuel Wanyonyi has disclosed his next race following his triumph at the Diamond League Meeting in Rabat, Morocco.
World 800m silver medallist Emmanuel Wanyonyi is not playing about this season as he stunned a strong field at the Diamond League Meeting in Rabat, Morocco on Sunday night, May 19.
Wanyonyi was in a class of his own, oozing class as he pulled away from the deep field that included Commonwealth Games champion Wycliffe Kinyamal and Olympic champion Emmanuel Korir.
The 19-year-old cut the tape in an astonishing time of 1:43.98 ahead of Kinyamal who fought hard but was forced to settle for second-place in a time of 1:43.09. Yanis Meziane completed the podium in a time of 1:44.13.

World 800m silver medallist Emmanuel Wanyonyi has shared two reasons why he has managed to stay grounded in the game and post remarkable performances at his young age.
Meanwhile, former world champion Korir, was forced to finish ninth in the hotly contested race, crossing the finish line in a season best time of 1:52.14.

After the race, the world 800m silver medallist was elated to have won and lauded the fans for cheering him on as he proceeded to win the race. However, he observed that the noise was a bit too loud for him.
“The race went very well and I am pleased with my performance today despite the wind being somewhat of an obstacle. I appreciated the enthusiastic support from the crowd even though it was a little bit loud,” he said.
The former World Under-20 champion now prepares for the Prefontaine Classic, the Diamond League Meeting in Eugene. He will also be seeking to win a medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and is working hard in training to achieve that.
“Now, I will prepare for my next race in Eugene and I might participate in Paris and Monaco as well before performing in the Olympic games in which my main goal is to win a medal,” he said.
