ATHLETICS Emmanuel Wanyonyi reacts to being sole Kenyan finalist in 800m race
The youngster aims for victory as he remains the sole representative after teammates' elimination.
The 34-year-old has been battling a series of injuries and has failed to perform well in the recent past. He was also in action at last year’s World Championships in Eugene, Oregon but also failed to make it to the final.
He then proceeded to the Commonwealth Games where he finished third, a sign to show that he is slowly making a comeback but his results in Budapest prove otherwise.
So far this season, he has managed to reign supreme in local events but in the international events, things went sour for him. He was in action at the Kip Keino Classic where he finished fifth.
He had opened his season at the Diamond League Meeting in Doha but did not finish. At the event, World javelin silver medallist Neeraj Chopra reigned supreme as Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem and Czech Republic’s Jakub Vadlejch finished second and third respectively.
