Epe Run comprises of 10 km and five km races
The maiden edition of the Epe Run will flag off in the Lagos community on February 19, 2023.
This coming Following the conclusion of the third in the community marathon series in Delta State tagged the Asaba 10km Road Race, which featured athletes from across the country.
Epe Run is the fourth leg of the race series, as the race is titled Epe Run.
The chief organizer of the series, Moses Nwanze confirmed that Epe Run has been endorsed by the monarch of the community, Oba Kamorudeen Ishola Animashaun.
He added that Oba Animashaun has assured him that his kingdom is ready to welcome both local and foreign athletes.
Nwanze said further that runners will participate in both 10-kilometer and 5-kilometer races with different athletes from different parts of the country and foreign runners.
He said, “Cash prizes and medals will be given to the winners in different categories, which are indigenous runners (participants from the host community), elite runners, visiting runners, team runners and fun runners. The race will also feature aerobics, local acts and acrobatics to spice the event.”
Ishmael Sadjo of Cross River State made it back-to-back victories at the third Community Marathon Series, he won the male category of the race in 33 minutes, while Rose Akusho of Plateau State won the female event in 38 minutes.
Sadjo and Akusho, who won the Festac and Lekki 10 km road races, each received an N500,000 cash prize.
