For the second consecutive time this season, Ese Brume will not be competing at a Diamond League meet after being initially listed.
Nigeria's long jump queen Ese Brume, is confirmed to miss another Diamond League after initially being listed a few days before the meet.
The Tokyo 2021 silver medallist was scheduled to rekindle her rivalry with Olympic champion Malaika Mihambo and World champion Ivana Spanovic at the Paris Diamond League on July 7, which would have been a perfect preparation before the Olympic Games.
However, less than two days before the start of the meet, Brume is no longer on the starting list and has been replaced with German youngster Mikaelle Assani.
It would be her second withdrawal from the Diamond League this season, with the first being in Suzhou, where it was said her visa wasn't approved. This time, there are no official reasons yet, as reports also suggest it may be due to visa reasons.
Last season, Brume got to the final of the Diamond League in Brussels and almost made history as the first Nigerian jumper to win the coveted trophy, but lost on countback to Spanovic despite both jumping 6.85m.
With the Paris Olympic Games fast approaching, hopefully, she will be at her best to compete for another medal like she has always done in previous years.
