Ezekiel Nathaniel has joined a growing list of Nigerian athletes that have qualified for the World Championships in Budapest.
Ezekiel Nathaniel has secured his spot at the World Championships in Budapest after surpassing the 400m Hurdles standard of 48.70s at the BIG 12 Championships.
The Nigerian record holder and Baylor University's sophomore student clocked a Season Best (SB) of 48.52s to finish second behind Texas Tech's Caleb Dean, thereby improving massively on his SB of 48.74s in the qualifying heat.
Though he couldn't defend his title, it makes it the second consecutive year he is winning a medal at the championship, and will take solace in his world championships ticket punched.
Meanwhile, his teammate Imaobong Uko placed fourth in the women's 400m final, clocking 52.13s and seventh in the 200m in 23.64s.
