Faith Kipyegon is in high spirits in Paris with Kenya set to launch its 2024 Paris Olympics kit.
Kipegon, who was sent alongside marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge by the National Olympics Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) to take part in the shooting, has taken to social media to express her excitement at being part of the production, posting a couple of pictures of herself in high spirits.
In 2020, Nike released honey-comb inspired apparel for the country’s Tokyo 2020 campaign, and it sparked a lot of debate, polarising public opinion.
Majority of the public said it didn't have the right shades of red, green and black - the colors on the country's national flag.
However, the kit did receive the backing of NOC-K officials and athletes, with Kipchoge saying it resonated well with the new generation.
It remains to be seen how the designs for this year’s edition will look like, with the committee announcing that they would be revealed to the public in the forthcoming days following the soft launch in Paris.
“Today, April 11th, 2024, @Nike is set for a soft launch of the 2024 Olympic kit in Paris,” NOC-K posted on its X page.
“Stay tuned for the grand unveiling in the coming days as we gear up to showcase the kit nationwide,” he added.
According to Secretary General Francis Mutuku, talks are in place to have replica merchandise sold in Africa and Middle East shortly after their launch.
"We only had the Team Kenya merchandise on sale in America and Europe because there were no sufficient buyers in Africa on dollar value," Mutuku said, as quoted by Nation last May.
Kenya has won a total of 113 medals at the Summer Olympic Games so far, including 35 gold medals.
One of the golds came in boxing while the other 34 were from athletics events.
