Multiple Olympics champion Faith Kipyegon has joined other women leaders in raising awareness and funds to help end postpartum hemorrhage.
Three-time Olympics champion Faith Kipyegon has joined calls to raise awareness postpartum hemorrhage which, according to statistics, kills about 3,000 women in Kenya every year.
Kipyegon joined women leaders from both political and business in the 'Run for Her' event that aims to raise awareness about postpartum hemorrhage in Nairobi at the weekend.
Postpartum hemorrhage is excessive bleeding following the birth of a baby and as per statisctics, one to five per cent of women have postpartum hemorrhage and it is more likely with a cesarean birth.

Multiple world and Olympics champion Faith Kipyegon has shared her excitement after visiting Nike's headquarters in Portland.
"Yesterday, I was honored to join the Science for African Foundation and the university of Nairobi in the first edition of ‘Run for her’ event to raise awareness about postpartum hemorrhage. A total of 3,000 Women die from PPH in Kenya every year," Kipyegon posted on social media.
'As a mother myself, my wish is for all women who dream of becoming mothers get live their dream of carrying a child, delivering safely, and most important live to see the child grow," added the mother of one.
Kipyegon, who has had an eventful season in track and field has been vocal about her support for fellow women and mothers, herself having taken a maternity break in 2018.
The athlete made her astonishing comeback from maternity in 2019, lowering her own Kenyan record and securing a silver medal at the 2019 World Championships.
This year, Kipyegon won Olympics gold, Diamond League trophy as well as the women's only Athlos event.
