Three-time Olympics champion Faith Kipyegon had no equals as she ran a dominant race to win the 1,500m at the Rome Diamond League.
Faith Kipyegon extended her winning streak in the 1,500m after a dominant performance at the Rome Diamond League on Friday.
Kipyegon, who claimed a third straight Olympics gold over the distance in Paris this month, displayed great power in the final 120m to move away from her challengers and with a big margin.
The Kenyan clocked 3:52.89 for the win.
It is the second Diamond League victory for the Kenyan after her record-breaking win in Paris in July just before the Olympics.
Kipyegon broke her own world record in the French capital, setting a new mark of 3:49.04, before going on to etch her name in the history books as the first woman to win three straight Olympics gold medals in the 1,500m.
Rome gave Kipyegon beautiful memories as it is in Italy where she first broke the 1,500m world record.
The 30-year-old ran 3:49.11 in Florence in June 2023 to become the first woman to run under 3:50, lowering the record of 3:50.07 set by Ethiopian Genzebe Dibaba.
Kipyegon started her 2024 season late, following an injury that forced her out of the Pre Fontaine Classic in May.
She began at the Olympics trials in Nairobi, winning both 1,500m and 5,000m to seal her ticket to Paris, before the Diamond League meeting in the French capital where she broke the world record.
