Auburn University's Favour Ashe clocked the fastest time in the world in 2024, which almost broke the Nigerian Record.

Former Nigeria's fastest man, Favour Ashe is back with a bang this season after racing to the fastest time in the world in 2024.

Ashe blazed to a super-inspiring 6.53s to win the 60m event at the Harvey Glance Tide & Tigers Dual Meet in Birmingham, Alabama, defeating Jekovan Rhetta in 6.66s and Makanaishe Charamba in 6.72s.

His blazing run has got fans and enthusiasts talking, as it was his first race of the season, and the time is very close to his Personal Best of 6.51s.

Ashe's 6.53s is his fastest opener since he debuted indoors in 2022, and many now suggest he can break Deji Aliu's National Record of 6.48s and probably smash the Collegiate Record.

After his brilliant 60m performance, the Auburn University junior also raced in the men's 300m and won in another PB of 33.82s, which moved him to fourth on the Nigerian all-time indoor list.

Meanwhile, his teammate Abasiono Akpan, competed in the women's 500m and won convincingly in 1:13.71.
