Auburn University sprint star Favour Ashe, aims to win his first 60m Gold medal at the South Eastern Conference Indoor Championships.

At the 2022 South Eastern Conference (SEC) Indoor Championships, Favour Ashe was the favourite to win the 60m final after running a massive Personal Best (PB) of 6.51s to win his semifinal race.

Unfortunately, the University of Tennessee (UT) freshman false-started in the final, which disqualified him from running the race.

With the memories still fresh in his mind and now transferred to a new school, Auburn University (AU), the speedster has just one goal in mind - to become the SEC 60m Champion.

The AU sophomore student has had an exceptional start to the 2023 indoor season so far, which has seen him clock the fastest 60m time by a Nigerian and African athlete this year, and third on the NCAA top list.

He has been the most consistent 60m runner in the NCAA circuit this year, having clocked 6.5s in all his races, with his Seasons' Best (SB) standing at 6.53s, which puts him No. 1 in the SEC circuit and No. 3 on the NCAA top list.

Ashe now has his target set on winning the SEC 60m title this weekend and going under the 6.50s mark for the first time in his career.

"My goals going into SEC next weekend in Arkansas, I'm looking forward to lowering my PB, at least doing 6.48, 6.49, and I know yea with what I've been doing in practice, I think I can do that and be the SEC Champion in the 60m," Ashe said in a video interview with Mackenzie Hamilton on the school's Twitter page.

To accomplish this, the 20-year-old will have to surpass his lifetime best of 6.51s and become the third Nigerian sprinter to achieve this in history, after Deji Aliu's National Record (NR) of 6.48s and Olusoji Fasuba's 6.49s.
