Nigerian sprinter Favour Ofili has set a new record in the women’s 200m race at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The 200-metre final was an extremely close race in which the Nigerian star girl just missed out on a medal.
Her hunt for a medal at the Olympics came to an end after losing at the hands of the USA's Gabby Thomas in the final.
Ofili was placed in lane nine beside the women’s 100m winner, Julien Alfred, and ended the women’s 200m final in sixth place.

Star Girl Favour Ofili missed out on winning a medal in the 200m final, succumbing to the supremacy of USA's Gabby Thomas, who won her first individual Olympic gold medal.

Favour Ofili got recognition for herself, setting a new record, despite not being among the top three winners in the women’s 200m final.

According to LSU Track & Field on X, “At the age of 21, Favour Ofili was by far the youngest competitor in the Olympic 200m final and was only.04 seconds away from the podium. Her future is brighter than all the stars in the sky.”
The Nigerian sprinter became the youngest female competitor to compete in the Olympic 200m final.
Ofili qualified for the women's 200-meter final by placing first in the heats and second in the quarterfinal.

However, despite her best efforts to rank in the top three, she was only able to finish in sixth place with a time of 22.24.
She was defeated by the USA's Gabby Thomas, who took home her first Olympic gold medal as an individual.
