He also exhumed confidence about winning a gold medal for Kenya and Africa at the upcoming World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Africa 100m champion Ferdinand Omanyala believes his confidence poses a threat to his opponents and instills some form of fear in them before competitions.

Omanyala, the second fastest man in the world so far this year, noted that having confidence also ensures that he is able to go into the race with a winning mentality, and in such instances, he is able to deliver what he promises.

“I never want to go into a race thinking about how big my opponents are because that will instill fear in me.

"Instead of being the victim, I always work towards ensuring I’m confident enough so I can pose a threat to my opponents and intimidate them,” Omanyala said.

He also exuded confidence about winning a gold medal for Kenya and Africa at the upcoming World Championships in Budapest, Hungary. If he delivers, Omanyala will be the first African ever to win a medal at the global event.

“My fans should expect a gold medal from me…that’s what I’m going for. It will be the first medal for Africa,” he bullishly said.

The Commonwealth Games 100m champion added that his training is going on well and there is a bit of pressure since everyone is watching.

Meanwhile, the 27-year-old has had a great outdoor season so far and has been in impeccable form. He opened his season with a big win at the second Athletics Kenya meet before going for his outdoor tour in South Africa where he also won the two races he participated in.

The sprint sensation then went for the Botswana Golden Grand Prix where he won the race by clocking 9.78 ahead of Letsile Tebogo who was competing on home soil.

He then went for the Kip Keino Classic in May where he stunned opponents to shine on home soil with a world-leading time of 9.84 but has since been replaced by Zharnel Hughes who ran 9.83.

He then started off his Diamond League campaign at the Meeting in Rabat, Morocco where he finished third before finishing second at the Meetings in Florence, Italy, and Paris, France. His next stop is at the Diamond League Meeting in Monaco before he heads to the World Championships.
