Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala is one of the most easy-going athletes in Kenya and he has shared tips to upcoming athletes on how to maintain a good relationship with the public.
Omanyala added that social media is a great way to build a brand but it all starts with their interactions on the ground.

Sprinter Monica Safania has raised concerns about why athletes have to pay if they are to train at the Nyayo and Kasarani stadiums.
“Social media is a good way to brand yourself but also make yourself likeable to people. If someone asks for your photo or autograph don’t push them away, smile with them and sign the autographs.
"That’s one thing that most upcoming athletes look and say that I have inspired them a lot about,” Omanyala said during the NOC-K Athletes Forum.
The Commonwealth Games champion added that after the races, he tends to interact with fans and that’s how he brands himself.
Omanyala explained that during events, he just gets tired from interacting with fans and not even the race itself.
