In a post on his X (formerly, Twitter) handle, the Commonwealth Games champion shared that tough times are what create heroes within us as he wished Kenyans a happy Mashujaa Day.

Omanyala has revealed the inspiration behind his decision to launch an athletics academy at St.Joseph’s National School, Kitale on Monday.
“Hard times don't create heroes. It is during the hard time when the 'hero' within is revealed. Happy mashujaa day!” the post read.
Indeed, Omanyala is a true definition of a journey from grass to grace and he has come out to share his story and why giving up was never an option.
In his early times during his track career back in 2017, Omanyala was banned for 14 months for testing positive for doping substance, glucocorticoid betamethasone.
However, he did not let that define him since it was not an intentional violation and he continued training, hoping to bounce back stronger.

Faith Kipyegon, Ferdinand Omanyala and co. will now be able to know the events Athletics Kenya has lined up for them for the 2023/2024 season.
He made a strong comeback to the Diamond League Meetings and managed a podium finish in all the races eventually winning the Meeting in Monaco.
He also made it to the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary where he finished seventh in the final but he has promised to bounce back next year ahead of the Olympic Games in Paris, France.
