Despite missing out on a ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Ferguson Rotich and Vivian Chebet have already confirmed their next assignment.
Ferguson Rotich and Vivian Chebet have put their Olympic setbacks behind them and are not resting on their laurels as they chase more glory at the Paavo Nurmi Games, a World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meeting, in Turku on Tuesday, June 18.
Both athletes were looking to make the cut to the Olympic team but they could not make it following the strong fields that had been attracted. Rotich, the Olympic silver medallist finished fourth during the trials.
The men’s 800m will now be represented by Emmanuel Wanyonyi, Koitatoi Kidali and Wycliffe Kinyamal. Meanwhile, Chebet, competing in the women’s 800m, finished fifth in the race won by Lilian Odira.

The women’s event will also be competitive having attracted Australian duo Catriona Bisset and Claudia Hollingsworth and Slovakia’s European silver medallist Gabriela Gajanova going up against Chebet.
